Have a look at the Jag website showing the car seats they offer, link below:

Thanks, that was the first place I went, after speaking with the local garage to order it, they informed me that it is not specifically designed for the XK and just a make do, hence my question if somebody had found a particular seat that did the job well.......If thats the best there is fair play.

I'll be looking for the 9month+ one soon too.

My only suggestion is to go down to the biggest branch of mothercare near you. They will let you try out every seat they have in the store, into your car.

The Recaro ones look the part as they are slim, but the build quality & strength didnt look good enough for me.

let me know how you get on and what you choose

The Ricaro Start that we had was probably stronger than most cars.
It had bloody great metal uprights which all the other components mounted on. It's been 7 or 8 years since I bought it so they might have changed since then, but it was the only child's seat I ever saw that appeared to have any "real" strength in it's construction, particularly in a load barring fashion. With the changes in rules about child seats I became very concerned about the seats ability to withstand a vertical loading and nothing else I saw came close.
I was concerned as I was facing a situation where the seat belt mounts in the car would potentially be below the shoulder height of the child in a raise (type approved) seat. This results in the forward momentum of the restrained child's body acting as a compressive force on their spine. I would only consider a seat that was capable of supporting that load component.
Sadly the Ricaro seat wouldn't fit in the car I was looking at here (my XK150) and after looking at the legal advise I decided the law was an ass and just continued to use the purpose built set of seat belts (not type approved).

Hi, what age child/ children do you need to accomodate?

I was running a steel bodied XK8 as my daily car for the past three years (until last week, in fact). At 6'3'' I have my seat a little further forward than I would in an ideal world, but it is perfectly workable and comfortable.

I just transferred the child seat from my previous car and it worked well for my son, who was around 4. It's a 'Britax Hi-Liner'. It seems the ideal width (and front to backdepth, most crucially) for the contours of the rear seat.

I went to Halfords to get a new seat for our youngest son (then almost 2), to fit in the back and was pleasantly surprised how helpful they were. The seat I bought was a 'Mama's and Papa's Protec' to fit behind the passenger seat, where our youngest son's legs stick straight out. (A good job my wife is only 5'4'').

Good luck,

David

Hi

When I was running my XKR (2009 4.2) I had the Jaguar supplied group 1 seat, which if I remember correctly was a Britax Duo Plus - Halfords sell these for c£150 I think, which is reasonable for an ISOFIX seat. The seat fitted well, although I took some precautions to protect the leather. Front passenger legroom was severly compromised however, which in the fulness of time promted a move back (rather reluctantly) to a 911 again.

I also had the top teather fitted and I seem to recall it was a bit fidly fitting the seat.

Hope that helps.

I tried a few today with my daily driver & a view to putting it in the back of my Mk1 XKR. The ones I thought were good, Maxi-Cosi Tobi & Priori just didnt fit safely, as the Mothercare lady demonstrated. The angle of the "pull" from the seatbelts was very important and some just didnt hold it securely in place.

Anyway, the one that will fit my daily driver & I reckon also fit my XKR was the Britax Evolva. Once held in by the belt you could wrench it as hard as possible & it wouldnt move an inch
