Where would you find steel wheels?

Looked on mytyres but they don't do them for 17" wheels in 4x100

I was looking for some to use over the winter with a set of winter tyres.

Gave up, but was then looking in a Land Rover mag the other day and there are a couple of suppliers advertising all terrrain tyres with steel wheels, so assume they would supply the wheels only.

I will dig out the details.

Why steel wheels? Just get some really scabby alloys off Fleabay.

It's relatively recent to get 17" wheels so almost all of them will be alloys at that size surely?

mytyres.co.uk sell steels fitted with tyres, e.g. for the 330i which needs 17" wheels
Might be worth asking them if they can supply?

16" is the biggest 4x100 steel available afaik.

its a vauxhall steel so 56mm centre bore.

no part number, sorry.

I've already got the 17" winter tyres see- so need the steelies. The car is only 1 year and a bit old, don't really fancy corroded to buggery alloys if possible!

As above, far easier to get some scruffy alloys.

Having said that, drivers on the continent don't seem quite as obsessed with big alloys as we do - perhaps there were some 17" steels on continental-only models of certain cars. Long shot, I know.

The MX5 mk3 was originally available with steel wheels, whilst I didn't like the look of them, with hindsight, if the dealer had a cheap set now, I'd buy them.

So, you'd prefer awful looking steels over scabby alloys? Eh? I guess you are in Leicester, tried any of the breakers near the space centre?

Having this problem at the moment trying to find winter tyres for the X Type, seems the tyres need to be 'J' marked/approved?

My tyres doesn't list a set of wheel + winter tyres for it.

Trawling ebay for a set of spare alloys too, but where do I stand with none j marked tyres?

Just get a set of Mondeo 16" steels - it's only a Mondeo in drag anyway. £20 a pop off EBay.

Yes but surely that will void my insurance as they aren't standard fit and hence a modification? I am with Direct Line who are notoriously bad for modifications.

No, I will do, but I had hoped to just get a set of winter tyres with the J mark as that keeps everything right.

Just go for a higher profile tyre on a 16" wheel, it'll be cheaper anyway.

If they're winter tyres, they ain't standard. Back to square one...
