Hey there, my tasmin 200(Y reg) ....well I pull the release too hard clearly and it came off in my hand. I am left with the metal wire and no amount of pliers assisted pulling will open the bloody battery to allow me to recharge the duracell-size battery that is in there ( yep it's the wrong battery ). Any hints/tips/help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is what i managed when mine snapped, managed to lift the drivers side of bonnet enough to wedge it up with a bit of rag or wood to give a gap nearest windscreen, then i used a long piece of thin wooden batten to feed across to the catch, get it in place then a quick sharp smack on the end of wood with my hand was enough to release it!

Alternately you can get to the mech from underneath, and use something like a 2ft long piece of half inch rebar or even a strong bamboo cane to push the catch across.

Or if there is still cable attached, you can pull that down within reach using the same improvised tool.

I think what Graham said is the way to go.

But to hijack the post put some photos of your 200 up. There's not many of us little-uns around and we should stick together!

I had the joy of this a few years ago. Mine needed one half of the exhaust removing to get space up there for my son's hand to reach up and open it. A 200 should have more space thankfully but try to find a volunteer to scrabble about underneath

Mine now has a bit of fence wire attached and exiting into the passenger side for emergencies.
