Has anyone done it? What do you think of the California? Is it as fast as the 430? Do you wish you hadn't? When do you think California prices will drop?

im not very well qualified to judge but i had a 430 and have been driven fast as a passenger in the Cali - the California seemed quite a lot faster - gearbox seemed excellent too

Seems crazy that a Scud is 20-30k cheaper than a California.

Might be pschycological(sp?), it always feels faster when you're a passenger, don't think there's much in to be honest between the two.

Never driven the Cali but I think they are quite similar performance wise.

I've just bought a 911 Turbo with PDK (twin clutch gearbox same idea as the cali) and the gear changes are allot smoother and the car can easily be driven like an auto whereas the 430 can't IMO. Saying that though I get the impression, I'm not sure why, that the 430 would be more fun to drive.

Of course PDK and new Ferrari double clutch box are better. Its called progress!

But the F430 is perfectly happy being driven in full Auto as well in my opinion and experience.

I run F430 last year and part exchanged that for a California May this year, there are two completely different cars and the gearbox on the California is much better, in terms of performance I personally feel the California is slightly quicker then the 430, but it is hell of a lot more practical and for me enjoyable. The California is more usable then the 430, we have just returned from Portugal in ours after covering nearly 3,000 miles in a very short period of time - a great car!
