Finally went on the NYMR
Discussion
I was always a bit of a steam train nerd when I was a child, something to do with Dad's career as a fireman on the Southern Railway in the 50's probably. However it had all fallen out of my brain until I moved to the North. Finally got round to going on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, from Pickering to Whitby and back today.
Took a couple of photos of the 9F which pulled the return journey. Hope you like

I've got a couple more but these are really the only good ones. There's also a video of it backing past us at Pickering station if you're interested

I was never really "in" to diesels, but they did have some ones which looked interesting
There is a DMU which runs twice a day, and the run in to Whitby is handled by a "heritage" diesel. As I say, my recognition skills are pap so I've done a quick Google.
The diesel loco which pulled us from Grosmont to Whitby was B. R. Class 25 D7628 'Sybilla' which made a lovely grumbly noise which Mrs Graebob described as "loud"
Here's a picture
Couldn't find anything on the DMU, but the Loco Roster is http://www.nymr.co.uk/enthusiasts/loco-roster/

I'm not really into DMU's as such - a bit too bus like for my liking.
At least you got to do the 'Rat' (the little Sulzer class 25).
They've got a Sulzer straight six turbocharged lump rated at just 1,250 HP but were not fitted with exhaust silencers - hence the loudness.
I can recommed an EE loco next time if want 'loud'.
