Builders have just demolished our old car port and garage ready for our new extension and look what they have unearthed whilst digging the footings!! An old petrol cement mixer. Just thinking what else might be under there.

No idea as we only moved in 6 months ago but makes me worry as they were obviously not the best of builders!!

I was shocked when i realised the builders of my house filled had up the cavity under the stairs (there was no provision for a cupboard) with all their building rubble and dry wall off cuts. Finding their heavy equipment buried on my property would have really shocked me hehe

Even more amazing was the builders had only just put it on the skip and two guys in a pickup pulled up and asked if they could take it for scrap!! They seem to circle round all the building sites waiting for scrap.

I've heard of bodged/botched (?) underpinning works where trolley jacks have been cemeneted in, but never the cement mixer itself!

Like flies on st!
It'll take them a while to grind all the cement off though! laugh

I've a couple of mates who are sparkies and I know they're particularly lazy when "tidying up", especially if they're in an attic. All their waste will end up under loft insulation or in cavities.

I know of a job where they put a mobile phone inside a cavity complete with charger and electrical socket so they could keep ringing up and annoying the client as he was a bit of an idiot!

I like that!

Would be great to get someone to phone the phone while you are there, and then tell him you can't hear anything..it must be his imagination.

There is a rumour that there is a JCB under what is now Wilkinsons in Arnold, from a chap that used to live in a house demolished to allow construction.

There are several cars under the M40 in Oxfrodshire! I know I saw them being stuck in there, a good 30-40 metres down!
