Arrgghhlarrrmm - battery dead

Ok, car went mad overnight... alarm decided to go off and wouldn't stop; all doors locked so I could only get in via the secret handshake...

Stopped after about ten minutes. Won't respond to the remote and no lights are on so I've plugged a CTEK charger into the 12v socket but absolutely no sign of life. It appears my battery's stone dead.

Did the track day on Monday kill it? Never had a battery just go dead flat like that before - do they do that or should I be looking for wiring faults?


Oh well... so... is there a nice thread somewhere with pictures of "the easy way to change a Noble battery" or will I need the assistance of the usual three-armed double-jointed gibbon? Another job for the weekend then...

Alarm issue could have been triggered by low voltage. I'd check out that the alternator is charging properly when you replace battery or else very soon you will be repeating the exercise and triple jointed gibbons are expensive I hear. Track day may have killed the alternator if you were up in the high revs for long periods of time. Shouldn't have, but it may just have been the last straw for a 'weak' component.

Yep, low volts and the alarm goes off and then you can't shut it up ! Oh yes indeedy-do, on more than one occasion I've had cotton wool stuffed in my ears, wrestling the car open in the confined space of my garage in order to disconnect the battery at 3 in the morning.

I find it easiest to unhook the battery cables from the top. Then jack the car up and change the battery from below. There are bolts on top of the bar holding the battery down, which holds the J hooks on. You just have to fiddle around to get those hooks out of the holes.
When you're undoing the battery cables, remove the negative cable first.
