Its my sons 12th birthday soon and he wants to go to a water park similar to wet n wild in Florida. Is Splash Landings at Alton Towers the only option ?

A few years later and it's seriously shabby and overpriced for what it is. Needs a full refurb.

Coral Reef used to be good. I've not been in years. The missus took the nephew's there and they came back happy so I assume it still is.

They obviously had *very* low expectations.

Its not even vaguely a water park. Its a pool with a couple of slides. Its not exactly dirty in there, but it needs a complete refurbishment. To be honest, the same could be said for most of Bracknell - nothing wrong with it that a demolition team can't put right.

The centerparcs in Longleat and Elveden are leagues ahead on every possible count.

Splash landing at Alton is complete ste, especially compared to wet 'n wild in Florida, having said that, so is every theme park in the UK compared to them over there.

Splash landing has 3 or 4 rides and non of them are fast.

Jarman Park in Hemel Hempstead is about as good as it gets in the UK. No it wont be as good as wet'n'wild but you can have a fun few hours in there. My kids 10 and 12 prefer the coral reef (as already mentioned). 3 decent slides plus the lazy river and volcan. Again a few hours fun to be had.

And over the road from the coral reef is a massive wood, it has go-ape up in the trees. So you might want to combine maybe an hour at the water park with the 2-3 hours that go-ape takes to complete.

I've been there a few times, and it okay, but its pretty lame in comparison to the (still relatively lame) pool in Basingstoke.

I stand corrected, havent been for a year or so, last time the kids had a ball. I guess water parks arent something we do well in the uk then,
