Congestion Tax - Does it extend to Croydon?
Discussion
We have to go to Croydon next week and we're uncertain of whether to take the car or use the train (£90 return from Winchester for two of use
).
Does the Congestion Charge nonsense spread into Croydon too? Or is it currently outside the catchment area?
Thanks
P.S I did look at their website and Croydon is not mentioned, but don't know if it comes under another "area name".

It's actually pretty amazing how few people outside of London understand the congestion charging b
ks. Many people think it covers all of the area inside the M25.
I wouldn't be surprised if one day it did.

Think many people confus the congestion tax with the emission tax . That covers the inside if the m25 , doesn't it ?
Nothing wrong with Croydon , it's rather posh
POSH ?............its a hole !Nothing wrong with Croydon , it's rather posh

Not that I'd want to live there though!
Well everyone is referring to West croydon thorton heaths , anerley and so on . Yes indeed thats not posh , however its not far off any other borough in London .
South Croydon , is totally different , theres houses going for 1million plus all over the place .Croydon town centre shoul be avoided at night time , but I dare anyone to tell me a town centre that is not the same as croydon .

Get a little further south to Purley and there's quite a few expensive houses, actually Purley is consistently in the top 10 average earners in the whole country. i.e. the average salary per household etc. http://www.findaproperty.com/displaystory.aspx?edi...South Croydon , is totally different , theres houses going for 1million plus all over the place .Croydon town centre shoul be avoided at night time , but I dare anyone to tell me a town centre that is not the same as croydon .
Croydon is a bit crap but no more than many places, there's a fair bit going with good transport links - you can be in London far faster than many people living halfway between Croydon and London, plenty of fast trains etc.
As a rough rule, south of Croydon is OK, North of Croydon is crap, West isn't great but mainly industrial places, East is OK-ish with SE being better and NE worse.
OP, just so you know Croydon is 8/10 miles away from central London so nowhere near the congestion zone. A bit like thinking Winchester is the same place as Southampton.....
