Currently driving around in every variation of Defender and one thing which never fails to amaze me is the crapness of the handbrake lever!

Is there any reason why they have not yet designed the lever so that it doesn't rub against the leg?

The only reason I could think of is that it there to provide a 'brace' for the driver when off-roading.

The hand brake is on the dif not the rear brake drums/discs liek 99% of cars on the road. It has been the same since the year 1800 so I can't see them changing it now.

And means you can also fit a 3rd front seat so provides leg room for that passenger. You can do a mod to put a rr classic lever between driver and cubby box.
