I'd be interested to know roughly how much it might be to install gas CH in a slightly larger than average 3-bed detached house. Currently there's a gas pipe in the integral garage and that's all. House was built in 1987 and currently has electric storage heaters.

Or is it a 'piece of string' quesition?

I paid £1600.
2 bedroom house. Done rather cheap by a friend.
Baxi duo 33 combi + 6 radiators.

If that is any help to you.

We've done a few two bed ground floor flats. ~£5K for combi boiler and 6 rads.

Five grand sounds a little steep, that's about what I pay for oil fired plus tank. Try three thousand, five hundred.

Wouldn't want a combi boiler - they sound like too much trouble. House has HW cylinder, happy to retain that.

Can't help with the installation price but, thought it worth mentioning, you will need an indirect HW cylinder. Unless of course, the cylinder fitted is already an indirect. Look to see if there are a couple of blanking bosses on the cylinder.

It'll be a direct one but if it's 23 years old it'll need ripping out and replacing anyway and I doubt it'll change the cost.

John you're looking at circa 4k if you want hot water cylinder etc, or circa 3.5k if you want a good quality combi system.
I'm only down the road from you if you want an accurate price and a proper chat.

Sorry for a thread hijack!

Gasman, would you mind giving me an idea of how much to move a combi boiler from the wall shown, to the wall adjacent please?

It's moving from the kitchen to the garage, currently the garage is empty, so no pulling around to do, pipes can run pretty much where they like.

I'd also like to add two radiators, both in the rooms above where the boiler is to be moved to...cheers!

Enquired about this for a 3-bed semi I was buying two years ago. Was told it would be "a Desmond" or thereabouts(two-two or £2200). That's a basic combi fitted in Birmingham. TBH, every type of major bit of building works (new roof/knock two rooms together etc) seems to be a Desmond round here.

I recently paid £250 for a combi boiler moving from and inside understair cupboard to the adjacent coal shed.

No new rads though.

I agree with the above post. You're looking at a days labour and 100ish materials, so expect to pay 300 - 375. Obviously I don't know where you are, those rates are about right for East Anglia / East England. London area would prob be closer to 500.
Any more than that and you are getting your pants pulled down!
