I fancy going to look at an mx-5 this morning, as I fancy something cheap and fun!
What do you all think this would be worth, bearing in mind it's from a dealer (albeit a smallish one)

Black 2000 1.6i with about 70k miles

It looks pretty decent condition in the photos, but I'll obviously have a better look this afternoon.

Also, is there anything major to look out for in the above model?

Cheers

I can do, but they're low pretty low quality so it's pretty difficult to tell anything from them.
It was up for £3000 online, which did seem quite good compared to others nearby.

Anyway, I did go and see it earlier - it looked pretty nice, but the paintwork needed a good polish.
The only problem was, I was a bit too big for it! A smaller steering wheel would probably solve that issue, but I think I can probably put this idea of the backburner for a while.

It was nice to drive, but the lack of legroom would probably become a right pain pretty quickly!

I *think* Mk1s are more roomy. That and a smaller steering wheel may solve your problem. A nice mk1 will be cheaper too, and look better (IMO). Food for thought?

I did think about one, but I think I prefer the more modern looks of the mk2.

I may have to take a closer look at one of the mk1's.

I couldn't tell any difference in size when I set in a MK2. However, I did feel like it was the gheyest car in the world.

So get a Mk1.
