I'm thinking of remapping my 320d (177) via Superchips Bluefin.

My current insurer - Admiral - won't insure me if I do it .... so I am looking elsewhere.

Aviva will cover it but they are £525 where the lowest quote if I keep the car standard is £365 !

Any ideas on brokers / insurers who are relatively remap friendly.

Greenlight won't insure it as it's RWD.

I was going to try Adrian Flux and Chris Knott.

Any other ideas welcome !

very odd..what exactly did they say?

although not a BMW, Admiral have no problems with mine being re-mapped..

..neither do they have a problem with friends remapped cars (both petrol and diesel)

I phoned them and they just said they don't cover remaps confused

Edited to add ....

I phoned them again and they said they would cover it for £65 !

Thanks for the above comments - I wish the person I spoke to originally had of known what they were talking about !

They will but when I rang they wouldn't insure me on the 320d as I hadn't had a RWD car for the last 12 months.

My driving history is RWD for almost all of the last 10 years apart from 18 months with a remapped Golf GTi which was before the 320d and Z4M (thus meaning only 8 of my last 12 months have been RWD) .... and that meant their insurer / scheme regarded me as inexperienced with RWD despite having had a TVR Griffith, 2 S2000's and 2 BMW's as my most recent RWD cars ....

Not Greenlights 'fault' directly though the person on the end of the phone was very, very Jobsworth and unhelpful - I should add, though, that this was not my experience when insuring my remapped Golf with them when that person was very helpful.

Thats some odd analysis going on - how they come to these ideas is beyond me.

Was thinking that myself but then got thinking - perhaps with 'drifting' now being a sport they are seeing more crashes involving RWD. So instead of singling out cars that are typical drift cars (and hurting someone's human rights!)they just put some sort of blanket ban out. The 12month thing is a bit arbitrary though as in the OP's case he had a string of RWD cars and he could probably show he was insured as a driver on those cars from past policy docs.

I believe they use actuaries to come up with such data and apparently they are very clever and well paid too so they must know something we don't...

I could have ... I still - sadly - have all my certificates of insurance in case I ever had to prove prior NCB ... and even said I drive a BMW 530d at work .... but they said the car had to be registered in my name and have been mine for 12 months .... it was completely non negotiable frown
