Is it possible to seal a watch?
Discussion
I have a battered old Seiko SQ100. It's no doubt worthless, but I like it because a) I've never seen a watch with a choice of English or French for the date before, b) it's a much better fit under a double-cuffed work shirt than my Breitling, but above all else because it was my Grandad's, and I was given it when he died.
The problem I have with it is that there's seemingly absolutely zero sealing on the back, so I've had a couple of occasions - think rush-hour tube trains in summer - where just the sweat on my arm has been enough to cause condensation on the dial, and for it to stop working until I've taken the back off and allowed it to dry out.
Is there anything I can do to make the seal on the back more moisture resistant? I'm not looking to be able to wear it in the shower, but it's a bit useless as things stand!

????Do you mean day? Or does it also tell you the month in either French or English?

Kermit,
If you replace the caseback gasket and crown gasket the watch should be oks crystal gaskets only occasionally need replacing.
One quick way to test water resistance is to place a ice cube on the glass face for say 20seconds remove and wipe glass dry and then watch for condensation underneath the glass. If the condensation doesn't vanish quickly the water resistance is either poor or the watch has been cased in a humid environment.
Hope that makes sense.
