2003 Blob-eye Impreza Wagon

Thinking about using one as a daily driver (40 miles per day) and general family wagon). Anyone else have any experience of having one?

I've had this model (2002) plus most of the others 1994, 1998, 2003 models. I like them.

Understated looks but can (of course) be juicy...

Great value. Check road tax....

Got a bugeye - fuel consumption is awful to be fair, just put in £49 (£112.9 per litre) for 205 urban miles! Better for distance work though, economy improves and it's a relaxed cruiser. On the plus sides, it is comfy, seats are nice and it is a pleasure to drive.

Boot isn't massive (although nice size if you fold rear seats down) - what the boot lacks in height it makes up for in depth but not much bigger capacity wise than a MK1 Focus. Ample for daily use though.

Oh, and it's got a BRIGHT button. Essential thing this otherwise they wouldn't keep putting them in Scoobies. You'll be amazed when you see what it can do!

I've had a couple of earlier models, both turbo'd

They're quick enough, overly thirsty, tyres are expensive (ish) and you need to change them as a set of four. A puncture at the wrong time, with the nail close to the tread edge can be expensive. The engines are bombproof, transmissions less so. Bodywork is very thin so dents easily.

Nah, find one of the last of the Classics.
Wagons tend to not be chaved.
I am biased though.
Bugs and Blobs, as standard, tend to be a bit "softer" than Classics, unless PPPed, or similar.
That might suit you though, however, as others have said, they all drink.
Preferably super.

Ok thanks pretty much confirmed my thoughts. I already have a n/a bug-eye wagon so know a bit about them. Didn't know about the BRIGHT button though, where is it? There is a switch on top of the steering column is that it? Only had it 6 years.

I had a 2004 Saloon as a everday only car.. I covered a lot more miles per day though.. Really its down to the fact can you deal with a car that does at worst 20mpg (2 gallons a day). Nothing else will go wrong with the car if its well looked after.

The bright button is on the head light stalk, you just need to twist it.

Cause of many threads on Subaru forums.

Reply, "Been cleaning your interior?".
Especially from the JDM crew, most not being able to translate the owners manual, if they have one.
