Im selling a Boxster and plan was to look for a Chimaera, but had a drive in a 350Z at weekend and was very impressed.

Is there a forum that I can join to ask the usual silly questions ?

thanks

found that one, just waiting on one of the mods authorising me :-)

In meantime is there any specifics I should be looking out for if I go and view one ?

Have you thought about a skyline gtr r33 or r34 if you can afford it.The 350z is a great car but the gtr's offer better performance, take a test drive in one and see for your self.

1) Has it been modded? If so, what and by whom?
2) Is it a GT car (leather interior, 6-CD Bose stereo, cruise control, Brembo brakes)?
3) Any strange noises (Google 'clicking rear axle')
4) FSH?
5) Research the different model years.
6) Is it a UK car or JDM?
7) Is the tyre wear even?
8) Do you know how much they cost to run?

ta for that

Ive not really done my reading up yet but would assume that running costs would not be any more than the Boxster ?

- New rear tyres every 9,000 miles or so.
- Service interval every 9,000 miles - major service is c.£450 at a Nissan main dealer.
- New exhaust (you won't be able to resist!): £750 (Milltek, Buddy Club) - £2,500 (HKS, Amuse).
- Remap c.£400.
- Supercharger kit c.£5k

I forgot to mention that there is a known issue with the Bose head unit skipping. Mine was replaced by the dealer when I bought the car. Also, ask if the bluetooth fob (sits in the central cubby hole between the seats) is coming with the car - they're about £90 to buy if you want one. If you're buying from a dealer, ask for a set of mats and a tonneau cover (a small removable screen that sits behind your head and apparently shuts out some road noise - the boot compartment is not separate from the rest of the car).

Thanks this is all really helpfull

Servicing costs look reasonable :-)

The more I think about this car the more Im liking the idea :-)

Hopefully wont be from a dealer but if cant sell my Boxster I will have to look at px deals.

Hi, I had one for a while and thought it was great....seem to remember there was supposed to be problems with the electric windows, but mine was o.k.

Just looked at your profile: why would you want to sell a Boxster S (with a hard top?) in October to buy a 350Z?

- Interior won't be as good (does your Boxster creak and rattle like an old man's knees?!)
- Performance is pretty much identical (350Z maybe a touch quicker in-gear)
- Handling not as sharp
- You're not going to get top money for your Boxster at this time of year

Don't get me wrong, the 350Z is a great car and I love mine, but would I have it over a Boxster S? Probably not.

The Boxster was an impulse buy, after spending months saving and reading up on Chimaeras. While it is a very nice car to drive and performance wise very good Im just not really happy with it.

I almost straight away started looking at TVRs again but after having a drive inb a 350z the other day am very interested. I actually quite liked the interior of the 350z - just as nice as the boxster I thought

You are right about the wrong time to sell though so if dont get a decent offer for the boxster will keep to next spring and try again

350Z is the only 'modern' car I'd have ahead of my 944.

Another year or so . . .
