New/recent owners

I've been trying to sell my Griff for a while via PH Classifieds and while I've had some email
enquiries none have turned into a sale yet.
Maybe PH Classifieds isn't enough. What routes did you use when making your purchase?

I looked on Autotrader in the first instance. I wasn't too concerned about private vs. trade at the time and ended up getting mine from a performance dealer in the end (although not a TVR specialist).

If I were buying again I'd probably check Pistonheads classifieds instead.

I got mine on PH, but it was advertised elseware.
I've been trying to sell my Turbocharged MX5.
it's been on PH, Autotrader & 3 MX5 specialist sites.
I've had 1 call, they asked the milage & ran away (142k)

So, I suspect it's more to do with the current finacial climate & time of year.

I traded down to a 450 Chim from a late Tuscan 2S with a cash adjustment my way at a dealer after giving it to them to try to sell on a SoR basis for a few of months.

As my T2S is still for sale at said dealers, I'm particularly pleased I went this route.

I bought mine through the owners club website. Cant speak for everyone, but I dont like to travel to far to look at a private car. Yours has some good feedback so if I wanted a good sub-£10k griff, I would travel but wouldnt do that for lots that are advertised as it takes so long to get anywhere in the UK now days and there are few things worse than travelling for hours and realising that the camera does, in fact, lie and you have a long disapointing journey home.

It shouldn't be sub-10k! It started at at +10k but no fecker's bitten. It's carrying miles but IMO and IME that's a good thing. Running low on patience now.

Not sure yet. Next summer I'm planning on a Tam or if the budget will stretch maybe a Tuscan II.
In the meantime I'd like to get something quickish for the dark months so looking for an E46 M3 or similar.

Bought mine from a PH'er on here. Originally I started off with a budget of £11k, & I looked everywhere, dealers, AT, ebay, here to name a few. Sadly though my circumstances changed midway through looking, & my budget was slashed, but I was sure I could find a basically good car, albeit one that needed some work. I was lucky to find a car in the spec I wanted that had recently had a LOT of money thrown at it, with practically everything under the body brand spanking new. The paint is not the best & the interior is tired, but for what I paid, & I am sure some would baulk if they knew the figure, all the hard work & the major expense had been done.
For what it is worth yours is one of the cars I wanted to look at, but once my budget was cut it was way out of my range.

I just bought a Tuscan MK1. Looked at Tams but few have had a rebuild and I saw that as a big issue.

but both are great choices, very different drive compared to a V8

Agreed.. Been trying to shift my S2000 for months, its currently on ebay with a reserve well below 'market price' and yet its still struggling !

Problem with high milage is getting someone to look at the car especially when they have many to choose from. Low price unfortunately is the way to do that. Once you get someone to look you have to have a skill to sell it. If you don't the best place for you is to give to a dealer on sale or return

It's been reduced several times to the point now where I think it probably puts people off. Too cheap!

Used market is nuts at the moment for everything. I literally had people fighting to buy my Disco 3 and sold it for way more than I advertised it for (and Glasses value). Yet my Mini Cooper S Convertible in top top spec I virtually couldn't give away, yet I had to pay a premium 8 months ago to secure. Meanwhile I picked up a top spec Merc W209 CLK Convertible recently for way below what they currently retailing for as the seller was desperate.

I like your car, can't see why it has not sold other than winter is coming. I would be tempted to buy but I'm having the Tam engine upgraded. You need some interior shots in the advert and engine bay ones to hook potential buyers

While it's it's a good car it's not what you'd call pretty. Under the bonnet and interior is not the best.
