I've got an '08 335d, and have done about 35k miles in it now. Off the top of my head it's had an oil change once at about 18-20k miles; it gets serviced whenever the computer tells me to.

I'm now about to put a second litre of engine oil into it due to low levels; this strikes me as quite a bit of oil usage for a relatively new car. Can anyone comment on their own engine oil usage on the 335d/535d?

Thanks

M5Dave

If I'm correct, what you're saying is you've had to top it up twice with a litre of oil since it was serviced at 20k miles.

It's now done 35k miles, so it's going through a litre of oil approximatly every 7,500 miles.

I wouldn't say that's excessive at all, in fact I'd say it's pretty good for a modern engine.

Yep, that's what I'm saying - litre of oil roughly every 7,000 miles. I just thought modern engines didn't really use oil smile

Had a 335d (2007) a 635d (2008) and now have a 535d (2009) - All use roughly a litre every 10,000 miles - which is fak oil!

Mine has done 120k, never uses a drop. When collecting from the dealer once, i found they always filled to the bottom of the stick....a litre short. So, i used to dip it in front of them before i left, always a litre short, £17.99 that should have already been in there....

Mine doesn't use any oil either.

Still on max after about 6k.
