Not an Ultima problem but i told a friend of mine that my 'online friends' would have the answer to this.

My friend has to extend some wiring on his fuel tank sender in his kit and was wondering what he should use to seal the wiring after. The join will sit inside the fuel tank. Obviously this needs to be fuel proof.

I know you lot will have the answer.

Can he not move the joint to outside the Tank? Just move it back and make the extended wire longer? That would make it much easier. I would suggest a solder joint with heat shrink. Not so sure in the Tank though!

If you have to then solder the wires and then there is some glue lined heat-shrink tubing you can buy that will seal better than std heat-shrink, that's what I would do. But I would only use it as a last resort, personally I would try and remake the cables at the source so there's no second join.

As much as it might not seem right most connections to in-tank fuel pumps are not sealed.

This is the type there may will be more but just ask at a local Electronics supply place...Maplins or RS might be a good place to start...

Use Raychem / Tyco CGAT heatshrink.

Just solder the joints and heat shrink in the normal way.
Many connections in the tank don't even have insulation.
The brushes of in-tank fuel pumps are cooled by passing the pumped fuel through the middle of the motor and the brushes.
