Mini oil service - £80-99?? Really?

It's probably a half hour of labour plus the cost of the oil. What did you expect it to cost?C

What sort of oil do they use?To do an oil change on that car they should be putting in 4.8 litres of 0w30 fully synthetic.
I very much doubt they can do that for so little money.

Ask what's involved - presumeably the offical service schedule has half-an-hour or so of checks, fluid top-ups, door hinge greasing etc. Or do they literally just change the oil & filter?alfa daley said:

0w30 or 5w30 full synthetic is quite expensive stuff. The oil filter is around £8.00.Labour rates around £40.00

It looks like I could get the oil changed in the Fezza for £49 with these jokers! 10 litres of oil plus the filter (which is only available OEM) puts the part prices in the reqion of £160. The same Castrol EDGE stuff that BMW put in from the looks of things. I don't need my second (inclusive) service from MINI for a while yet, but I'm not sure I trust long life oil to last 20k, so for the sake of £36 I might get mine booked in. Thanks!
If it's in warranty then one very tiny but potential snag is KF won't use a genuine MINI oil filter. This comes up on the Merc forums quite often and they generally won't use it even if you buy and take it in yourself.To be honest, the oil will be fine for 20K miles unless you do lots of short journeys from a cold start. There's probably a much greater risk of KF causing damage such as leaving the sump plug loose than there is of your engine being damaged by deteriorating oil.

t"?I have had the oil changed in my cars a couple of times at National Tyres with absolutely no problems, and no issues with warranty further down the line at the main dealer.
Christ this place isn't half full of merchants of doom, the quality of an oil change at a fast fit place is probably of the same standard as at a main dealer, look on the Mercedes forums for all the tales where the dealers stuffed it up.

My nearest fast-fit of any type is National Tyres so I've been there several times through necessity. The majority of visits have ended in a row.
