Would you employ this man? - Martin Salter.

I'd love to know what this man's CV could possibly bring him in terms of employment?

The man is 56, and has 13 years as a backbench MP under his belt, and before that worked within the local council.

Serious suggestions please for a career outside of the public sector?

It's ideal as it is local. only requires you to work 1 hour 10 mins a day and you are working with jeuvenile, undeveloped minds.

It's a natural switch.

Being serious I can well imagine him lecturing in local government administration or such like.

Just google the words 'John Cowan Labour' if you want to see a Labour CV!

Company liquidator. Ideally suited when you think about it.

Being serious for the moment, I'd say he's perfectly well qualified to do the job of most middle-managers in most large companies.

Plenty of managers know little or nothing about their company's products or services. All they know how to do is manage people and processes, and beyond changing public sector organisations for private ones, I doubt their CVs would look any different from this.

Is it really that bad?

(Having said that, the fact he can't decide whether to finish lines with a full-stop or not, and his use of hyphens, does frustrate me a little; but that's just me being a geek.)

Problem is that no one likes employing ex-MPs, especially Labour MPs. There were some articles about it a few months back where more than a few could not find jobs after being thrown out of Parliament.

I almost feel sorry for his future employment opportunities.

Yes but there is the danger hes a seething self loathing marxist. Not a good characteristic in the private sector.

I do not get the impression he is actively seeking employment.

13 years as an MP, generous salary and one of the best times for expense claims.

Golden goodbye and pretty solid pension.

He is currently in Australia chilling out according to this... http://www.martinsalter.com/

My guess would be a job with the trade unions if he gets desperate.

This is true, however you'd think "being an incompetent buffoon" would be a less than admirable trait in the private sector too, yet I see numerous people on a daily basis who make a clear argument to the contrary.
