rear-view mirror extension

An idea for somebody who's a bit handy...

OK, you put the top down and can't see owt in the mirror (not that I'm often bothered what's behind, 'cos they ain't gonna catch up anyway)

But what would be handy would be some sort of temporary rear-view mirror that you could clip onto either the existing mirror post or the top of the crseen, which extends above the screen, thereby allowing a view over the back end - get my drift?

Any ideas, anyone?

I just use the wing mirrors, but you could probably buy one of those wide angle mirrors at halfwits and fit it to the normal mirror.

SeveT - that will just get you a wider view of what you can already see. What you need is a periscope.

Isn't that going to get blown about when you drive enthusiastically? You'll end up only seeing the gear stick.

I'm used to riding only on side mirrors on the bike and it works fine there. You can generally get an idea of who's behind you using the pair in combo. Also re. a mirror on top of the mirror, I wasn't advocating sticking something out into the breeze above the screen, given the rates of progress of your average tivver, that's not going to work is it.

I've found that as the weather is warming up, the rear screen is a little more flexible, and the roof folds slightly further..... allowing a view over the top of it. through the winter I've been happy with the door mirrors though.
