Armed with IP (internet protocol) addresses - which can identify the internet connection used in any copyright infringement -
or can be spoofed by anyone with the desire and half a braincell. Clueless, utterly clueless. They have discovered the ability to hassle people who are small time, and no kind of problem to their business empire. Plank stupid.

Do ISPs do any snooping at all? I suspect they do. What about certain ports? Some (i think) are almost dedicated to P2P stuff.
Actually I wonder if they throttle down on those?

Some do, I can't speak for all. Google deep packet inspection for more information.Actually I wonder if they throttle down on those?
The ideal situation (for the ISP) is that P2P traffic is throttled heavily whilst web and mail isn't touched. User then sees a slow download, runs a speed test which shows that they are getting full speed. S/he then writes off the low speed as being the fault of the seeders / peers, or just heavy traffic.
The policy management servers don't just rely on DPI, they also have policies that identify a user contacting certain addresses (e.g. the torrent sites) on a regular basis.

To move the subject onto the other aspect.
Way to go Anonymous! The guy put down a lot of very inteligent internet people and said they were just an annoyance and nothing to be bothered with. You just don't upset people like that, all of a sudden he is now under investigation and the subject of much humiliation. I would hate to be one of the four thousand named on that list though!
I do love a little bit of internet vengence but I fear a little that it will cause the collapse of the internet as we currently know it once Goverments struggle to contain control.

You'll probably find a link on TorrentFreak, which is a news site, and has lots of comments about this.
I particularly enjoyed his emails to his ex-wife (google it). what a lovely, lovely man Crossley is.
I got the folder, but have no idea how to view them... I particularly enjoyed his emails to his ex-wife (google it). what a lovely, lovely man Crossley is.

1) do a search in the root of the folder structure for *.*
2) copy all the files(not folders) it finds into one folder.
3) open a dos box, navigate to the folder and run the following two commands
rename *.m* *.eml
rename *.h* *.eml
4) open outlook express and drag and drop the .eml files into the inbox
5) read.

ACS are as disgusting a proposition as ambulance chasers imho. Targeting people who will more than likely not know better to argue their case and may well be innocent, leading to them just paying up to avoid any trouble for themselves.
As for the story, good move brainiac. Insult 4chan, always a smart course to plot

4 chan strikes again

The place that shall never be mentioned.

Someone on here mentioned they were up to something and i have been keeping an eye on this as it developed. I thought everyone knew that the only way to rouse them from their porn and anime induced slumber was to hurt animals or say that there is nothing those internet geeks can do about it.
