Ted, I commend you

Its nice to see a positive piece written about the S Series which is IMHO far too often forgotten.

I would also be keen to read a Wedge buyers guide as well.

I'm proud that my car looks very tidy for an S especially when its done the 100,000+ that you so rightly mention its easily capable of.

And me.. I wasn't sure if the "right side of 10K" opener was to put people off or keep prices up, but then found the 5k-10k coment at the bottom which balanced it out nicely.. a nice piece from someone who obviously has a working knowlege and interest of the model

Nor did I until I noted that the filtering for the lists avoided things like S1.5 so upgraded my car to an S2...

That's cos its a 4.6 GTi something or other and gets filtered out.

Ted , great to read such a good piece on the S family..a great piece of kit whatever you buy..what would you rather drive something that has the pretecne of a sports car or one that is. C&SC did an article on future classics for £10k June 2001. Talks well on all the vehicles tested but the closing paragraph sums up the view on the S " But it packs effortless-if boisterous performance,thanks to Fords torquey 2.9 litre V6 has an engine note guaranteed to upset the Noise Abatement Society,boasts razor sharp steering plus powerful brakes and looks the part. So it a question of whats of greater importance,civility and poise or power and prestige ? Thought so. "

With reference to insurance group 20. Jardine Faber 01604 639011 will do it under a classic policy. Mileage limit set at 7,000. No claims bonus does not affect cost. Expect to pay between 300-600 per year, depending on age.

I use Jardine as I am local to Northants, are you ? also what policy do you have ? I have mine with Crowe but J.Faber have told me they only do 4000 mile policies as restricted not 6 or even your 7000.

This is a great article with a number of interesting pointers.

I've been hankering after an S3 for a few years now, and I have a current target of September.

Every time I read something like this, or browse the classifieds, the wait becomes 10 times harder! I want one now!
