Anyone Get A Free Terrabit SKY HD Box ?

Just wondering the best tactic to get a free box (if at all) we have 2 boxes both HD but only one has a HD feed and the HD one is the 250gig but is easy to fill

I`ll pay if I have to but if there is a strategy pray tell

Them: Havent you just gone 3D
Me: Yes you know I have as you enabled the 3d channel last week
Them: No then as your stuck with us ha ha

Unfortunately Sky don't see it that way.

You would think that the more loyal you are the more you would need to be kept.

However, they actually think the other way. If you have put up with the boxes being buggy, having to be replaced along with an awful customer service system which only treats you like a real customer when you threaten to leave, and you put up with that for years and years then they know you are not going anywhere...

No choice guys - if I dont have the sky pack the Mrs spends money on clothes and make up etc, by having sky she sits in her dressing gown all day spending nowt and eating cereal from the box.

Breaks down as
SKY HD and full channels inc ESPN downstairs
SKY HD box with NO HD sub upstairs on a clone card at £10 - NO ESPN
SKY insurance for both boxes and dish etc £10 a month

Seriously considering going EBay and installing my own large HDD in it.

Take out insurance and get it swapped, we have two 250GB ones (I think) they were 160 - may have that wrong but they replaced both boxes with better ones

It's such a con. How much does a 1TB drive cost, £70? Now assume that you are SKY and ordering in massive bulk, £40? £30? £20? Yet how much extra does a SKY 1TB box cost, £249?!?!?! WTF.....

Sky's prices always have and always will have nothing to do with how much it actually costs for the extra service.

They use the premium services such as HD and 3D and the big box simply to set a price differential to split the market to rake a large amount from the high-end premium customer.

Same in many other markets.

Take a cup of coffee at one of those fancy coffee houses. 3p of coffee sold at £2.00. You want a 'fairtrade' cup of coffee - that's 30p more. For 1p extra cost. You want a squirt of cream? Same story.

Payment is based on what the customer can afford, not how much it costs.

You can buy a 1tb drive (samsung F3 is the one) for a little over £40 and swapping discs takes literally minutes, it really is very easy. If you want to copy your peogrammes use copy+.

I agree but I cant walk as we are recently upgraded to 3D and they have us by the nads as the only provider.

Reason for having the insurance is - we needed a new dish, resited, new quad lnb, new cable across the house and one of the boxes was playing up. A mate who is a aerial fitter advised signing up for a year at £120 for both boxes and they will do all of that work - they did plus I got 12 month cover - real bargain IMHO

Just a tip...99.9% of the time if you are not insured and say your not paying X amount for a box and they can shove it the adviser will just tell you to insure it with them now and then they will put the insurance call in for a new box...you would then be tied into a one years insurance but you would have already gotten your moneys worth.

Its worked for me 3 times on Sky+ boxes.

No you're not, unlike Virgin Media, you buy the box, you own it, it's your hardware.

I went out to a guy yesterday, he had several problem with his HD locking up he eventually called up to cancel and guess what, 1 brand new 1TB box delivered to him for a self install. So it does happen
