My car has grooved and drilled front discs, that's the limit on my break knowledge, when breaking down from high speed they squeal, not like a pig more like concord at take off!! anyone got any ideas what this could be, obviously not cheep!?

My Cerbera's brakes make that nice noise especially when braking hard. They also shake like a leaf when braking too. Believe it or not. This is a car that is on a 51 plate and has done only 3000 miles. Is this right?
los angeles said:It's usually brake dust that does that, shell, from the pads. If the discs were warped you'd soon know about it. The car would judder as the brakes tried to get a grip. Perhaps a pad or pads are worn. Do they squeal even when in the wet?

Opps, I'm supposed to write something then!!? Yeah they squeal no matter what the conditions but only from high speed, are they getting too hot?
Graham - you've perhaps got uneven pad material transfer to the disk. Try cleaning them up with some 180/220 grit paper (very carefully and evenly). Are you on the single piece disk or the 2 piece set up? My car came with the single piece disk but I've swapped it for 330mm AP Racing disks and earlier Cerb 4.5 bells. I think the standard Cerb pads are a pain too. And at £160 a set it makes a lot more sense to go to good mintex jobs.
