Roadster To Follow Lexus LFA Coupe?

Lexus is looking at soft-top LFA to succeed its V10 supercar coupe

An open-top version of the Lexus LFA supercar could be on the roads and in the hands of proud (and very wealthy) new owners by 2014.

According to US car mag AutoWeek, Lexus is looking at putting a production version of the Lexus LFA Roadster - seen here in 2008 Detroit show concept form - once it has filled the world with 500 examples of the coupe version of the V10 supercar.

AutoWeek reckons Lexus might build even more open-air LFA's than coupes, too, but there will be about a year between the delivery of the final coupes, and the first roadsters rolling out of a Lexus factory. Which means we won't see the LFA roadster until around 2014.

But if the roadster (should it come to fruition) is half as good as the Lexus LFA coupe we drove back in July, it will almost certainly be worth the wait.

Not really a fan of the coupe but that looks fantastic, which leads me to think the car is very colour sensitive.

I've experienced the noise of the V10 from the cockpit of the coupe & it's mental enough in a topless one it'd be utterly bonkersly good It'd be on my shopping list when I win the Euro Millions for sure.

Bizarrely, that looks far better than the coupe! Having heard a coupe at the parade in Le Mans, I can only imagine that driving that would cause a gentleman crisis!

Am I the only one to think the transition from concept to production mucked up the front end - this looks stunning, as did the last coupe concept. Then they went to redesigned the front end [for cooling and top speed was it?] and I feel the design just doesn't flow as well. I do love the back end though, proper aggressive!

How does a Bugatti Veyron owner feel when they announce the Supersport? How does someone who's dropped £350K on a Toyota with £60K Skyline performance feel when the droptop version appears - etc. etc.

I realise Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini owners are used to being usurped with SVs and 570s and Scuderias and GTs and RSs but sooner or later I imagine you just give up?

Surely the wealthy owners don't really care about being surpassed by better more expensive cars, they are probably too busy enjoying the Ferrari 430/458, 911 turbo etc to care too much!
