Aston Martin - coolest brand in the UK!
Discussion
Astons were cool when they were only selling a few hundred a year.
Massive success but that invariably dilutes the brand.
Also a car which has 'Power, Beauty, Soul' lit up on the dashboard everytime you start it up is more naff than cool as is any owner who has a numberplate which has SPY, MI6 or anything which tries to spell Bond.

No, that's geeky. I love it but it aint cool.If a car is cool it doesn't need to be good in any one area including the drive, all it needs is to aspirational and for the majority of the non car people to know what it is and what it does. I know many woman who know nothing about cars but on seeing a DBS Volante would leave pleasure trails down the high street.

Anything which appears in a "Cool Index" is almost by definition not cool.
Which pretty much sums up the whole list. Some things on there were once fairly cool, but popularity and badge placement on sorts of products (Ferrari?) have seriously diluted any potential "cool" factor. It also means that the Top Gear cool wall should be read backwards.
The list is just a list of the brands that aspirational muppets will try and mortgage themselves upto the eyebals to have.
Iphones and blackberys aren't cool, they are just what some idiot in a velour tracksuit and orange tan thinks they should be seen carrying.
The cool brands are the ones the Chavs wouldn't recognize in a million years.

I agree. Do we think it should say nothing, or should it say something like "F
ing Floor It!"

True, but I think its retained a lot more (perceived) class than, say, Bentley. Massive success but that invariably dilutes the brand.
Although the Continental is a spectacularly good car and has made the company far more profitable its popularity with knuckle-dragging sophisto-chavs has left a slightly questionable image. A few middle aged bankers indulging their Bond fantasies with an Aston is less damaging than scores of P-Diddy wannabes sticking giant chrome rims on matt-wrapped Continental GTs I reckon.
