Is that 115mm wide?

Also the oil cooler for the gearbox, where abouts does this live on the car?

I put all the cooling at the front and moved stuff around to get better air flow, some have put them in the side pod.

I think 115mm is narrow, 252mm is wide... mine were both wide.

Thanks Andy,

When you say side pod, do you mean the side scoops at the front or the side pods at the rear of the sill?
Also what is a sandwich plate and what is it for?

correction, I went for 13 row for both engine and gearbox, only difference was engine is -10 and gearbox is -6

steering cooler is wide 5 row but i cant confirm if its -6 or -8 as i never took mine off... it is almost completely shrouded by the front clip and completely out of the air flow tho lol

I mean the side pods at the rear... Tuxman cut his internal ducts off like the M400 and fitted a 19row narrow cooler.... I believe having it in the front gives greater cooling on track.

The engine currently has a water cooler for the oil, you need to convert that to air cooling by directing the oil through an air oil cooler... to do this you need to replace the water cooler plate with a new one from think automotive that opens at a certain temperature and allows oil to flow down into the air oil cooler.
A brief investigation proved to me that Think was the only place to get this from... around £88

Thanks again Andy,

So the oil was being cooled by water originally? So in affect by adding an oil cooler then this should also help keep my coolant temperatures down?

I placed mine in the side pod, as they have been known to run to cool at the front was the case on the race car.So far my temps have all been good and that was on track driven fairly hard.

Side pod sounds good to me, did you do any A panel of wheel arch modifications in order to direct air towards the side pod? i was thinking about some Sill venting and powerful fans in the side pad so maybe i could use these for dispersing the heat from the oil cooler. Then i suppose i can do the same in the other side pod with the gearbox cooler. Did you move your ECU into the cabin? Do you have any pics of the mod?

I fitted a water-oil cooler for mine in the pipework where the original engine oil cooler was plumbed, this has the advantage of also warming the gearbox oil up aswell as keeping it from getting too hot.

ye i had a look at these Kevin but i was worried the coolant system would be put under more strain with a water/oil cooler.

the think sandwich plate has a thermostat so opens at the required temp so shouldnt overcool the oil?

The gearbox cooler is mounted in the passenger side pod. The ECU has been left where it was and the oil cooler at the front. MY gearbox cooler goes through a heat exchanger cooled by water to the oil cooler and has a thermostatic switch so only uses when needed.
I am waiting for the CD of the complete job that shows all the details of the work with pics from start to finish will post over the week end.
