You see I came onto this thread with the innocent intentions of finding out which event management company is behind the fantastic event but seemed to have got distracted by some of the grid girls...

So to save myself from blindness I shall just ask the question here instead....

Anyone know who actually organises it? Because I somehow doubt Lord March sits behind a desk and rings everybody involved personally. though I am open to being wrong! biggrin

Goodwood have an events management team in residence that I believe do all that kind of stuff. I spoke to them when trying to get a small group of us to do a photo shoot outside Goodwood house.

People on here work for or closely know, better than I so will be along soon.

Goodwood Road Racing Company I'd assume? If you look in the Revival racecard there is a page listing nearly 100 people involved in the event planning. James from Goodwood will probably read this and give you the definitive answer.

Perhaps I may need to be a divulge a little more information.

I have a proposal for a 'show' within the Goodwood F.O.S or Revival. I would like to approach the right person with it. Whilst I know that Lord March is in 'charge' I'm aware that it probably wouldn't be his email address I would find readily available to send the idea to.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Having googled Ellen Laverty I have found the contacts page I have been searching for. Thanks very much!

Simple, look up JGoodwood in the members search, ping him a PM and I am sure James will point you in the right direction.

I had a similar thing I wanted to do about 4 years ago, and did not find them very responsive to be honest (despite my idea being fantastic!)

Just put a couple of calls into the Goodwood office, spoke to a lady who put my idea to Lord March, and they just came back and said they did not think it was a very good idea.

No surprise there I'm afraid.

We've done a lot of work over the years for both events. LM is the decision maker, but he takes advice from a close friend of his. I am in touch with a few existing (and more than a few old) employees, and not many have many good words to say about his style of management. Low paid and worked too hard are the main issues. There's a lot more to say, but not on a public forum.

I'd say one can be neither surprised or not surprised because the OP will not tell us what his idea actually is, it be good or it may well indeed be crap but whilst ever he wants to play "Secret Squirrel" no one knows so personalities don't come into it. It's a bit of a non-event hehe see what I did there?

Ideas are subjective. To some people they will be good and some people will think they are pointless and have no merit. Ideas have to be carefully thought through, explained and pitched to meet the requirements of the 'client'. Posting a rough outline very rarely does the idea justice and generally gains a disjointed response as the full story is, understandably, not known and is taken out of context.

Thanks to JGoodwood for getting back to me though, that's very good of you. If the idea has legs for anyone at Goodwood then great - if not, then I guess I misjudged my pitch and approach and I'll learn from it and develop something else.

I've come up with loads of crap ideas in the past but it's only when you get the informed input from others do you realise how you could have approached to better suit the client.

Once again thanks everyone on here for helping me get my concept in front of the right people!
