Buying a used car from Switzerland...
Discussion
Not sure how to go about asking for help on this!
I don't want to put the details in here for a couple of reasons, please PM with any advice/opinions you may have. I have seen an online ad for a used car just over a year old, less than 12k on the clock, the seller wants less than half of what they are going for on Autotrader. My head is screaming out to walk away, it must be a wrong 'un, but the deal is too good to just ignore.
The story is the guy has moved to Switzerland, and got a UK spec, UK bought right hand drive car for sale. I don't know why he didn't sell it before he left the UK, and he hasn't answered me when I have asked why it is so cheap. The car looks immaculate in the photos.
The car is being held by a Swiss shipping company, if I am interested I send them the money, the car is delivered to my house where I can check it over. If I am happy, I can keep the car and the shipping company send the money to the seller. If I am not happy, I can reject it, and I am not charged.
There are two other people interested in it, trying to raise the money. If I send the money first, I get first refusal. Obvioulsy, I can HPI it which will give me some reassurances, but I have heard of even those checks not being 100%.
If it works out I get a bargain. Worst case scenario, I lose my money and could end up in trouble with the law for buying stolen property. What should I do?

If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
I presume we're talking more 'Ferrari' than 'Fiesta' here, so the potential savings (or loss) would be quite a bit of money.
I'd be very wary. Get all the details first, and do some research on this 'Swiss shipping company'. You need to be 100% certain it's genuine before you even consider going ahead with it.

do you really have to ask
if it looks like one, walks like one, and smells like one, then it is one....
alternatively, I'm sure lots of people buy cars, then sell them at half the market value because they've 'moved to switzerland', instead of just taking them to a dealer and getting 3/4 the market value..
ffs
come on, share the advert with the rest of us so we can have a good laugh at how you were nearly conned..
