Advice needed - best way to get rid of MOT'd banger

Never really been in this situation before but I have an old banger that's surplus to requirements. It drives OK and went through it's MOT in May without a problem but I've only done about 500 miles since.
Trouble is it looks appalling covered in dents and scratches, bits of trim hanging off etc. So much so, that I can't even face advertising it with a photo. Also, too be honest, the money I'd get for it really isn't worth all the possible aggravation with tyre kickers and no-shows.
Are there any pit falls in using one of the numerous companies who offer to pay for your 'scrap' car and take it away? Just don't want any comeback afterwards, especially from the DVLA.

That's got to be worth a few hundred quid to someone - farmers love 'em.
In fact, I'd be tempted to use it as my winter snotter.
Spend 5 mins on a PH ad, stick it in the Classifieds, and if "no shows" are a concern then only make appointments with PHers with more than (say) 12 months "active service".

Whatever you do, make sure you get the logbook signed and legit details on it. Those Legacy are favourites of hare coursers where I live and work - always unregistered, not insured, driven 5 up with half a dozen lurchers in the boot, usually across freshly planted fields, followed by a 90mph make off from Police. Cracking cars, but a bad reputation in my area.
Gumtree - list it for £200 and you'll be rid of it and money in your pocket in minutes. Dodgy dealers will be all over it, and just come and take it away - having an MoT means they can flog it on and make £50. Be honest and list its flaws in the ad - you'll sell it no problem. I did this with an old escort and I had it sold over the phone in 15 minutes, no tyre kicking, just came and took it away.
Blimey, there might be some legs in it then. Seems a shame to scrap it if there's someone out there who could use it.
I'll get out at the weekend with the camera and put an ad on..... if nothing else it should provide a few laughs - especially if I show the runs of glue forever fused to the door where the previous owner did some wing mirror repairs but didn't think to let it dry before going for a drive
