...i've made the fatal mistake of browsing and seem to have fallen for something a bit errr....different...
Have you seen just how many Silver Spirits (yep not white Shadows) are out there for 5 bags!!! and the Bentley sister too!
Then we have the utterly bargainous White Shadows....i've spotted road legal ones for less than 4k!!!
How frickin awesome would it be to waft around at the weekend just laughing at the fact you're driving a Roller or Bentley for less than your neighbour has just paid for their focus!!!
Sooo tempted to do it, even just for a few months!!!

Ahem....last year I bought a Mulsanne Turbo for £4k, it had more filler on the wheelarches than wheelarch, but had a load of MOT & Tax...and it was a Bentley Turbo !!.
So I spent £500 on a bit of bodywork, which made it look amazing. I kept for about 2 months, and did the full mid-life crisis thing. You do look a T**T driving around in such a car....but who cares, I didn't. It was one of the dream cars of my youth. Now ticked off the list.
Fuel is the killer, surprise surprise. I regularly stuck £20 to have a bit of a jolly, but the low fuel light was on almost as soon as the engine was warm. I sold it to a nice man in Belgium, and made a £500 profit....and fulfilled an ambition.
Anyway gets under your skin a bit, so just agreed to buy a £5k Silver Shadow that I don't need !...although this one is pre '73 so tax free, and LPG (of which I am a big convert via my everyday Jag).
Should you be scared...probably, however if you think of it as a big car...it is huge, everything is big and OTT. If you think of it as a van...I used an LDV freight rover as an a analogy..well same sort of size !.
The most complex aspect are the hydraulics....but I've owned a couplle of Citroen CX's, a DS and an XM...all more complex. So your average Citroen Indie will find a Rolls quite easy. There is a healthy supply of S/H spares.
You are not going to get a FSH at this price, or many of the other things you should probably look for.....but I suggest you do it...even for a few weeks.
PS Fully comp classic insurance on my Shadow is £125 !!...free tax, depreciation proof car. Does motoring get any cheaper..and you get to drive a Rolls Royce everyday !

It's fun driving Rollers! I found, doing tests for magazines, that *everyone* becomes ultra courteous. Even a double decker bus driver waved me out for a give way.
Reason? Other drivers are kacking themselves out of fear of touching such a pricey car. Having been in a '72 Shadow, and '81 Corniche (neither worth a vast amount), I found this revealing

(I also had a fleet of quirky old Citroens).
One thing i'm currently learning about mid-life crises - embrace them!
