Kids, hooning and donuts - last night at about 2300

Last night we could hear, from the bedroom window, the local "yoof" in their big exhaust cars (my 2 year old says that these cars are "Just noise" when they go past) clearly thrashing their cars up and down a road somewhere and, when they got bored of this, were clearly donuting (is that even a word).

They started at about 2300 and went on like this for nearly three quarters of an hour - I'm pretty sure they were using the carpark at the local airfield and the track that passes/leads to it.

However, am I being a miserable tt for thinking that this was out of order, antisocial and just wrong? And, if I'm not, should I have called the police (and what would I have said anyway)?

I ignored it as I didn't think it was worth a 999 call and wasn't sure if I was being a boring eejit or not.

Nope, very antisocial, usually results in collisions, where they run away because of the lack of insurance!

Usually results in Ambiwlans home when one of the crashes

Nope - it is antisocial and you are not being a miserable old git either - its wrong. If it were impossible to get access to closed to the public areas or similar then I would suggest that its a nature of the situation - but when there are airfields, track days and club socials up and down the country in every town and city, I have to say that its wrong to do it on the public roads.

There is more than enough opportunity to do it in safety (for everyone, including the driver) at nominal costs. And any muppet driving moron who says "I cant afford it" needs to assess what is important - weed, drink, smoking, chav-tastic wheels, petrol, insurance, stereos that you can hear in the next county etc etc.... Stop spending money on stuff that makes you look like a tit and start spending it on stuff you need - like insurance.

Bloke around the corner from me, young bloke and seriously into his cars. Had a run-in with the local cops who gave him one of those anti-social things for his car. Took the hint, sold the chav-tastic Golf he had. Bought a tried and tested E30 BMW and now saves his money to take it on a long list of track-days, skid pans and auto-test things. Much more fun and he's actually quite good at it too - and now drives safer on the road as he has nothing to prove.

I fking hate kids doing this round the streets, but I know I did exactly the same in my first car I was so excited.
THus I can't decide whether that gives me the right to be annoyed ro I have to grin and bear it.

No, I used to drive past the car park laughing....

Oh and when I had the volvo, drive in, keep my distance and just drive round the car park slowly, laughing as they all shuffle nervously back to their cars and scurry off...

Funny thing was I was younger than them when i had the Volvo....

On a more serious note I'd have rang the non emergency number for my local police, then they make the decision how important it is etc.

I didn't post above so feel free to ignore my comments, but it snowed every winter when I was a teenager and the car was my Mum's so had a standard exhaust (or a mild steel replacement from the local motor factors) so my ttting about was almost silent. (I was rarely allowed to drive after dark, either)
