decellerating vibration in gear

My car's a Eunos 1.6, I've had it a month or so and it's always made a kind of grindy vibration noise when engine braking, noticeable in all gears, more noticeable in 2nd and 3rd.
Any clues what it could be or how to fix it?

Where is the noise coming from? Does it sound like a scraping noise coming from the gearbox? Some describe it as ball bearings being poured down a metal tube... If so, it is pretty common and there isn't really a fix. Just live with it.

If the noise is coming from engine itself, suspension etc then it should be looked at.
