I bought a Cat D M3 and it was sold with no service history. I have however traced the history and know where it was serviced. Has anyone ever sent round a new service book the the respective dealers with stamped/addressed envelopes to the next dealers to collate the History again, thereby increasing the value of the cars by regaining the service history?

It can be done, but some dealers are more reluctant than others.

Also bear in mind that although you might get the stamp, you won't get details of work carried out due to DPA rules.

That's just someone at the dealer being a knob. The DPA covers individuals, not inanimate objects such as a car!

What you shouldn't get is the names and addresses of their customers.

Done the same thing, it's very much down to the individual you deal with. The DPA is pure bolleaux, as mentioned above, but really difficult to get around once they've said it - it's often code for go away...
If you can, face to face is best, with the car & documentation with you, & pick a quiet moment rather than 5pm Friday, for example. The worst hey can do is tell you to s*d off, but bear in mind, they might...
