RAC Inspection proof of ID ?

I'm selling my Evo VIII MR and the potential buyer has arranged for an RAC inspection tomorrow and asked that there is enough petrol for a 20 min test drive, all the keys and all the documents.

My concern is how do I know this is not a scam ? Obviously I'm not going to give the RAC guy all the keys and docs and send him off on a test drive and I prsume he will have ID and a document to cover insurance ?

Anyone had experience of this and can offer some advice, Maybe I'm paranoid but you know there are plenty of scum bags out there trying to rip you off.

Not much here http://www.rac.co.uk/products-services/vehicle-ins... but by the looks they turn up in an RAC van, so that will give you something to trace the scammer with.

Perhaps call the RAC number when he arrives to verify his identity?

I think the potential buyer and yourself are both being very cautious. This can only be a good thing, as the number of scumbags and dodgy dealers who are around is shocking. You only have to take a look at the number of people asking for assistance in GG about such purchases. I would be more than happy knowing that the potential purchaser is willing to get it professionally checked out, it shows that he/she is genuinely interested in getting a good, sound example, which shows that he/she will probably be a long time owner. This indicates that it will be going to a good home, other than someone who will just rag it round and generally not give a toss, but will stretch its legs every now and then. I am aware, i am rambling now.....
