Coco Ring Flash - any views?

Has anyone used one of these bargain basement Coco Ring Flash jobbies?

they seem to clip over your normal flash and direct the light to the front of the lens........I know it will never be as good as a proper ring flash, but for £60 I was wondering if it was worth a pop? (until I can justify to the missus spending £300 for a proper ring flash!)

Proper ring flash you should add an extra zero onto your original price

The speedlight ones are OK, they're limited by the output of the speedlight and the modifier sucks a huge amount of light out. I have a Rayflash one, and lose about a stop. You'd also probably need to be within 10 feet or so of subject, so used on something over 70mm is going to be a stretch

bds! I've paid £120 for THE SAME THING from RayFlash...

I use this quite a lot if I'm indoors with electrickery, it's a nice clean light

Impressive - but might be tricky to creep up on an insect for macro with that!

I got a Marumi ringflash nearly new on eBay for £80 - works well

That Marumi one looks OK, they're on ebay now at 120 quid new, you got a deal there ! The others, they look a bit, well, gash...
