Getting rid of AMG

Upside; the mrs is pregnant

Downside; I'll have to sell my C55 AMG

She's only just got her licence so the replacement will have to be something with a (much) smaller engine with some room for the little one (pushchair etc...).

Budget around 15-20k

Any suggestions much appreciated!

eh? Last time I looked a C class was a 4 door car with a boot? Is she expecting an elephant? Why does having a baby mean YOU need a smaller engine now?

Why does everyone think they need a large family car as soon as they have a child?

A Focus sized car is more than ample to cart a newborn and its belongings about. I've carted my little girl around in a Focus, 1-Series, 3-door Micra, Puma and back to a Focus. The only thing I struggled with was loading her into the seat in the 3 door cars. Never struggle for space in any of them.

A C-Class would do the job with ease.

Seconded. I have a new arrival (2 months) and a CLK. I'm looking at a C class (a C55 has been thought of), as the CLK is on a lease which ends in March so is being kept until then. If it weren't for that fact I would keep it. The boot is huge for all the crap you have to cart round, the only restrictions are access to rear a bit tight and not enough space to have seat on an isofix base and have a front seat passenger at same time.

Get the wife a 2k Focus or a Citroen C3 at £140 per month, get yourself some earplugs.

My wife looks after the cars i've bought her rather better than i do my own.

I agree though, having a baby does not mean you have to change everything

I have considered keeping the C55 and getting Mrs killwill a little runaround but as we live in London I fear the merc will sit on the side of the road and never get used (not to mention parking permit costs etc etc)

What I'd really like is something she'd be comfortable driving (ie not too big) and something that I may get a little bit of fun out of....Maybe a golf is the answer *yawn*
