At the weekend my brother and my dad put the finishing touches to his new RS.
I took a few pictures along the way.

I like this car but my issue with these RS fords is that they are nothing different inside to a focus st which again is very similar to a vanilla focus. As you spend most of your time in the car i would like it to feel a bit more special for my £30k+.

It's just a wrap that isn't it with black car underneath? How do you look after it - I see the machine polisher but do you still need to polish a matt car to an extent??? How long does the wrap generally last? Looks lovely.

I've never been in an ST, but how many people does a Focus ST seat? 5?

The RS only seats 4. It has two sculpted Recaros in the rear, and two Recaro Sportster CS's in the front.
It also has an RS steering wheel.
The rest of the Interior is spot on, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

What else would you expect them to change?

Cars are for driving, and enjoying to do so. Not to admire how pretty the interior is. Simples wink

I don't know exactly but for the money I expect some higher quality materials - maybe some Leather/Alcantara elements on the dashboard, different gauges, different console trim, different combinations of trim options, different steering wheel (like M sport, not just a badge).

I'd agree. The RS interior is a nice place to be. It could be better, but then the cost of the car would go up too.

Yeah, it is just a wrap with Panther Black paintwork underneath.
It is quite a delicate finish to look after. You cannot polish the vinyl at all. The machine polisher was out for the gloss black parts.
I think there is a 5 year warranty on the wrap, but considering my dad is a car clean freak and my brother is a detailer for Polished Bliss then i'm sure it'll last much longer.

It has a few layers of Swissvax Opaque (a wax specifically designed for matt/satin finishes) applied to the vinyl to help repel water, dirt, bugs etc.

Could of cleaned the disks while you had the wheels off....

Other than that looks good! Mean!

After a mile of driving and braking the disks would have (and did) clean themselves. The hubs were cleaned and painted before the wheels went back on.

I did think that looked like Clarkes head in the background, wish i had seen the car at the PB open day, however i was away but have seen photos and it looks really tidy.

Ever been in a Sierra RS? The similarity to the cooking spec models was hilarious but all part of the charm also.
