I got the TVR grin!

Took a mate to Christopher Neils today to pick up his Chimaera from repair, and had a good chance to explore some of the cars. This will seem quite rudimentary for most of you but this was the first time I had seen a Cerbera and T350 in the flesh after much ogling of pictures!
A Cerbera was always my preferred choice, I liked the option of four seats but after a little experimentation realised, as I've read many times, there is only room for three adults. Still they go like stink so its still an option. I really liked the Tuscan, the sun was shining so the option of a top-down became all the more appealing.
I think I now understand the TVR aura, I tried a Noble and an Elise for size but it just didn't feel right after any of the TVRs - I think its its fair to say that at this point I had now adopted the infamous TVR grin.
I began thinking along the lines of an old Chimaera if I get myself a decent graduate job, trouble is the price of insurance without no claims, so I might have to stay out of this market for a little while longer.
One things certain though, I am definitely after a TVR in the next couple of years, probably a Chimaera as an entry level car, though the Tuscan is certainly appealling if I can save hard enough. Whats important is I have something to aim for, and if I can extend my indecision to when I'm ready to buy, I'll just have to test drive them all.
On the way home we had a little spin, my mate in his 4.0 Chimaera and me in my Mum's 1.3 Ford Ka. Though I've been in the Chim I found it very difficult to appreciate the speed in the passenger seat relative to the surroundings, so having us level travelling at 80mph and both putting our foot down was quite an impressive sight.
On the next one I had a run at overtaking and must have been doing a good 30mph more in the outside lane. He didn't put his foot down till I was level and I still had no chance! The whole drive would have made a great video actually, gave it a real sense of proportion being in another car and it was a nice sunny day.
Overall, a good day, and my sights are set on TVR ownership as soon as possible!

When I started (groan, here we go i hear you all say), I called in at Christopher Neils on my way for a weekend away in Wales. I was ambling around the showroom, when Steve Jeavons (see told you it made an impression, 11 years ago and I still remember his name) asked me if I'd like a go in the S3 that they had outside. How could i refuse such a generous offer?
Suffice to say, I had a little trundle around, got lost, found and finally went back. I enjoyed the drive very much, although the sound wasn't quite right. favourable impression, though.
I went to the Motor show about 4 months later, and Steve was on the stand. he recognised me, and took me onto the stand (jumping a queue of over 60 people), and sat me in a 4.0 Chimaera, that had just been launched. He told me that if I was interested, they'd got a 4ltr Griff on demo at the dealership, and I was free to have a go in a couple of weeks, if I liked.
Hence test drive in Griff. When I got back, I couldn't speak, until this lad of about 11 or 12 came over (his Dad had a Wedge), stuck his head into the cabin and asked me what I thought. All I could say was "awesome".
When we finally got round to buying one, I felt duty bound to go to Neils, as Steve had been so obliging. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything in that was suitable. So, guys at Chris Neils, and Steve especially, I did give you the chance!
So if you can get a test drive, do it, you won't regret it, but take it easy.
I guarantee you'll be opening your car windows when you see a TVR just to listen to it. I know I did (sad git).
