Knacked Cats

Hi

Ive got a pair of blocked cats sat on the garage shelf.

If i remove the guts from them and fit them back on the car, will they work/sound the same as my De cat pipes ?

Yea, take all the knackered honeycomb out(not easy)and fit them back on and you are de-catted!!

Sorry to be a spoilsport but isn't there some logic about an expansion of that size, occuring in the exhaust tract, creating a back pulse in the exhaust stream ??

Yeah i can see the logic with exhaust gas flow, but did nt know if it would cause a problem.

i think the exhaust gas pulse will slow down in the empty cat and cause a back pressure. but just wanted to check on here.

Is any one good at physics who can explain this in more detail ?
