Has anyone sought a quote in recent months as to how much the ring costs to hire for a day?

Pie in the sky at the mo but having done the TF thing lots I quite fancy trying to fill a closed trackday.

I know, but I'd rather run my own for people I know through here and various owners clubs etc if I could get the numbers and break even, than charge everyone the amount the TDO companies do with their profit margin built in too. As I say, pie in the sky at the mo but would be interested to see the costs involved.

ALY77, do you have any experience as an event organiser?

If you embark on this you're going to discover;

1. When they finally get around to offering you a date it will probably be a Wednesday in November with a 70% chance of snow.
2. They will want you to take a 'package' including filling their pricey Lindner hotel, eating their food, drinking their beer etc.
3. Sorting out insurance etc for yourself as the organiser may make getting TF cover for your car look simple & cheap.

I think just about everyone thats had more than 3 weissbier in the Pistonklaus has had the bright idea of renting the track for 20k and taking it over with a bunch of mates for the bestest trackday eva but the reality isn't that simple.

I think your best option is to either just go on one of the well established TDs or if you can garner enough interest see if one of those TDOs will do you a deal as a group booking on one of their events.

If you really think you can herd enough people to sustain an event by youselves I still think you'd be far better off getting someone like Darren from RingWeekends to navigate all the dealings with the GmbH for you.

Aly, I would suggest that the TDO's profit is a very small percentage of the overall cost and an even smaller price to pay for not going through the billions of hoops of organising the event yourself.
It would probably ruin your personal experience too and leave you with 50 people to care for and no time for fun.

Thanks for your input to this guys. As I Say, it was and will likely remain pie in the sky.

Between a friend and I we do pretty much what we'd get from a "Guided Tour" for our trips, though the most we've ran over at a time is six cars, rather than 50 and that doesn't take in to account the organisers liability and having to deal with Nurburg Gmbh either!
