Polished Aluminium Parts - which product did you use?

Has anyone had a go at polishing the aluminium parts in the engine bay?

What did you use to bring them up to a shine (apart from, i imagine, a lot of elbow grease!)?

Mac is an expert on this.

But ive done bits im my time...
Various grades of wet n dry, wire wool and finish with autosol.
Yes lots of elbow greae!
No laquers, just a freshen up with the autosol every now and then

For me, very fine wire wool - too corse and it WILL scratch, followed by Autosol and then to finish off some Meguiars metal polish which is less abrasive than Autosol and gives a slightly deeper shine as well es extra protection.

For some reason, even with this messy type of polishing, a yellow duster simply does not give any where near as good results as a microfibre. A pack of 6 cheep microfibres (labelled as "kent car car"), will do just fine and cost about £2.
