Oh my god have you seen Lotus's new cars. Wow.

I missed the first couple of mins of the live reveal in Paris but I think they have released the following:

A new Elan, Elise, Elite, Esprit and another new one can't remember te name but it's a 4 seater. The Elise looks great.

Yes, kind of exciting for the Lotus crowd. And the one you missed is the Eterne.
But "released" is a bit of an optimistic word as most of the new cars will not be in the hands of the public for 3-4 years. (Does this story sound familiar smile.)

So, the Esprit will be a V10 at around 650bhp
The Elan will be a V8 at around 450bhp
The Elite will be 600Ps with hybrid technology and Kerrs
The elsie (no mention of power and the only one that mentioned not being ready for 4yrs)
The Etern is a 4 door with 600Bhp.

So I think after all the Mods going on in the Nob after maybe 5 more years one of these will be my next target (or maybe a 2nd hand evora S).

Can't wait

As a life long fan of Lotus, having "owned" through my brother three Esprits, and still having a S1, these do little for me I'm afraid.

Personally its all gone wrong styling wise from the S2 Elise, and these are now bland, not particularly exciting, and trying far too hard to be like the rest that was out there. To try and take on Ferrari/Audi/Lambo is rather 'cute', but if you've sat in an Evora they are miles and miles away quality wise, and the whole controls feel like you are extension of the car has been lost in the use of so many commodity parts. Try a quick shift in a Elise or Evora and you come away mildly disappointed.

I have a feeling Chapman might be rather restless in his grave if this is the future of Lotus.

That being said, the Esprit is OK, and the Elise is all right from the rear, but just weird from the front. The others seem to be just in the middle styling exercises between the two.

Saying that, I'll reserve judgement until I seem them in the flesh (the MP4-12C is a very different car in the flesh on that vein), so that'll be a few years then....

I think they look "nice", but they all look the same and like a Gallardo.

Not that I think the Gallardo is ugly I like them a lot, but you would have hoped they would be more adventurous or even creative?

Lets see if they ever get built. I expect they will build one first, if it sells and they make enough money then they would expand their range. I doubt they would try and release all 5 cars together that would be commercial suicide.

to get all the specs for each car--including price--that they are releasing right now, anyway.

As someone who's had 4 Esprits and was seriously considering putting a deposit down on the M250 I'd not be counting any chickens with these '5' (erh-hum) models. Give 2 or 3 years and then see what Lotus actually produce.

Hmm.

The Elan looks like a good car for now not 3-4 years down the line,
At 75k 1300Kg and 450Ps it looks like it could ruffle a few feathers and offer good bang for your buck but by launch everything else will have moved on and I suspect the Elan will be an "also ran"

The Esprit at 110K, 1450Kg and 620PS (531 Ft Lbs) may have a shot though IF it is released on time,
I bet the weight figure is a non-Kers car, imagine losing the extra weight of that lot!

They may all be styled similar but what a great looking lineup. I think they are the best looking cars i have seen for a long time, i hope the elan and the Esprit go into production.

What Lotus are attempting is unprecedented and massively ambitious. I hope they pull it off!
