Now that flowers are starting to bloom and the days are drawing out 'we' can get out snapping some more stuff (well, I know I will be).

I popped out into the garden on Thursday to see what I could find in the way of flowers (fancied toying with the macro which I hardly ever use) and came back with a few shots.

www.grahamjyoung.co.uk/images/photography/flower1.jpg - That was taken indoors though.

Not brilliant but it's not REALLY Summer yet.

Feel free to post some of your favourite Spring/Summer snaps here

I was suprised with that shot actually, it's my pick of the bunch.

I was playing with the macro (mine's not that brill) took about 10 pics of that same flower in the hope that one would not be blurred (there were about 3 that weren't), chose the best one and to do the blur I put it into photoshop, selected everything but the flower and did a radial zoom blur.

Cheating but it looks good

I apologise for misleading you dear boy

The lakes look lovely Stefan, really picturesque, would love to take the Westy up there sometime (Scotland's on the list too).

Some good flower shots too, especially the lillies, how did you take ones like:

I can't make it out

Awh, shucks thanks I have more, but those were the best.

That was a Begonia (had to ask my father for that ), IIRC all i did was stick the camera under the plant and hit the shoot button. That will have been with my old Fuji A202 as well - no control over what it does, just point and shoot and hope for the best.

I was at the stage of simply point and hope, nothing thoughtful about it to be honest... I upgraded camera's to a Canon Powershot A70 at Chrimbo and love it! I get much better photo's now, both colour and content wise. I just haven't updated my website as I'm moving servers in the next week or so and plan to upgrade to mySQL and the like.

For some really stunning colours (not maybe great photos however) have a look here. It's when me and my sister took my grandparents to Alnwick Gardens in the height of Summer last year. That camera proved it's worth that day and it was only £80 (sold for £70 as well, along with my chrimbo pressie from Ikea for £100 I got the Canon for £40)
i.e. :

When do you plan to head to Lakes in the Westie? I might join you as I plan to head back in a couple of weeks... Scotland is on my list as well once I get a tent and can stay overnight.

Aaah, what a perculiar picture, it looked as if the camera was underwater and taking a picture of the bottom of a lilly on the surface of a pond, or that's what it looked like to me

Not a clue to be honest mate, the Westy still isn't finished and my health isn't brilliant at the moment. Won't be for a while, although I may consider popping up there when we've got the Land Rover.

I'd love to go to Scotland, especially to do the route on Steve Carter's website

Ah, well I hope you get better soon (I know what it's like to have poor health btw, I have to take each day as it comes )

May I suggest Balater for a perfect little place to camp...

I just started out taking photos for a bit of fun. Got a couple I quite like but not sure they really 'cut it'. The first is a typical sunset on the West coast of Scotland and the second is just some random shrub in the garden. (just looked at the link to the flower shot and for some reason the top left has come out a bit 'faded', I can assure you the version on my pc doesnt look at all like that, weird.)

I had messed around with them and made them what I considered a lot better with just some basic colour adjustments but I thought the original is more... hmmm... true???

Nice colours, it's a shame you can see the threads on the leaves That would make a stunning picture with the light on real leaves.

My Mum wasn't best pleased when I showed her the first one of my pictures and told her "this is a pic of those fake flowers in the pot downstairs"

OOPS, they WERE real.

Petals old bean, petals. But I like the extra texture! And this thread wouldn't be complete without - uh - threads..
