Looking to buy a 7 seater, we really like the S max that we have on a PCP at the moment but it is due to go back in Jan, so I thought I would look around for something cheaper and older. Unable to get credit at the moment due to being out of work for last 6 months, the S max final payment will be £7075 and I know it is worth a lot more than that but as a straight "hand the keys back" deal that is all I will get for it, however if i sell it privately....maybe £11500, 57 plate with 36k miles 2.oltr Titanium.
So maybe an 02 Espace????

If you're after something generally practical, you could pick up a decent new-shape Zafira 7-seater for that much. I know I know, Zafira, but I used to run one as a company car (typical, give the single 20 year old a diesel 7 seater, and the middle-aged family man a 1-series) and it was actually very nice to drive.

Alternatively you could go for a Volvo estate (is it the V70?) that can be spec'd with 7 seats. Haven't researched this but if you can find a 7 seater T5 or V70R that could be very interesting.

I wouldn't recommend an older Espace due to reliability problems. You could pick up a 2005/6 Seat Alhambra with approx 50k miles for £7.5k (before haggling). They are decent enough to drive if you need to press on (although not as much as an S-Max) and they have more room in the rear row of seats than an S-Max or other mid-size MPV. Plus there's penty to choose from and lots of VW independents to service them.

Can't you just continue paying for the S-Max given that you like it, the mileage is low, and it's worth more than the balloon ?
I've not have a PCP before but would assume that you have the option to continue making monthly repayments if you don't want to pay the balloon ? Pretty certain my MIL did this on one of her cars.

Who says you have to hand it back?

Even if you can't sell privately because of the finance, there's nothing at all stopping you from trying to find a better trade price than the balloon.

To me the Voyager interior is a bit second rate - the plastics are not nearly as good as the standard you get from mainstream Fords and VAGs.

One of the posters suggested a 7 seat Volvo estate - you can also get an E Class estate with rear-facing kiddie seats in the boot. I've got one and my six and three year olds love them. If you only need to use the seats occassionaly it works well.

Don't touch an Espace unless you like big bills at the main stealer. Get a mk1 Galaxy for £1500, it will go wrong but is diyable and easily repaired. 90 and 110bhp engines tdi run veg oil.

slightly off topic, but as there is plenty of kids-seats stuff in here, i may as well ask.

Reckon you could fit a new-born, a 3 year old and a 5 year old all on the back seat of an e36 3 series?
