Part of Evo's Porsche vs Ferrari feature consists of a used car buyers guide, and in at the 40-60k bracket for Prosche is the 996 GT2. I find that pretty astonishing, by most peoples standards its a very accomplished car, produced by one the worlds greatest sportscar manufacturers and wears in iconic badge in its "GT2" moniker, with the performance to back that reputation up I might add. I hadn't realised they'd shed so much of their original list price

Surely these cars can only appreciate in value from here on in. There's one in the classifieds for less than 40 grand for goodness sake! Am I missing a trick here? I realise that the 996 in general is possibly the most unloved iteration of the 911 but based on its reputation alone, as the most extreme development of the 996, (perhaps alongside the GT3 RS) the GT2 is a dead cert to appreciate eventually, is it not?

Possibly. But the 993 variant was much more limited numbers. And the 997 version is a better all round car by all accounts. (and slightly prettier too) So it will be those 2 that appreciate in time.

I'm a fan though of the 996 version though it's worth getting the suspension altered somewhat from standard. IIRC people stick GT3RS geom on them?

It's my favourite car of all time, especially in silver...
