Advice needed!

As some may have read from my previous threads, I have had to give up my dream of a VX220 and have been struggling to find anything else that can fill the 2.2 litre hole in my heart. Until now...

I've now decided that a boat will make my manhood bigger, so am going to split the cash that was going on a VX () between a lovely V6 speedboat (PropelerHeads, floatation matters) and a flatbed 4X4/truck (L200 kind of thing) to tow it and to help out as I'm just about to start renovating a house. But now I am trying to decide what kind of truck to go for, so over to the PH massive.

Got a max budget of between £3k and £3.5k and would be looking for something with as low miles on it as possible as I'm scared stless by high mileage cars for some reason. Something like an L200 or similar would be ideal but am really open to other ideas..

I'd say an L200. On the basis I saw one involved in a crash. It destroyed everything in its path.

I also happen to think they look good.

FWIW my brother-in-law is a mechanic who does lots of work for commercial vehicle dealers and with the exception of the gearboxes on Trafics, L200s are the vehicles he has most work to do on for 'young' vehicles. Gearboxes, axles, engines...

With £3-3.5k to spend on a big towing rig you are going to be looking at high milers, there's little you can do about that. High milers aren't necessarily a problem, the past 4 cars my dad has owned have all had more than 100k on the clock and only one of them has really been any trouble, you just have to buy carefully.
