PS3 online not working
Discussion
Are you using wired or wireless for your Internet?
I had wireless issues with my PS3, ultimately found it was down to the wireless channel being used on my broadband router/wireless access point.
Symptoms were the game seeming to crash (although it was in just endlessly trying to contact the Internet) or getting hoofed off games unceremoniously.
There are 11 (IIRC) channels to choose from within the wireless RF range, lots of people are using the low or high numbers as they are the defaults for most routers.
If lots of people in the vicinity are using the same (or even channels that are close to each other as they tend to bleed over a bit) they you can have contention issues.
Try changing the wireless channel to something else which will be somewhere in the WiFi setup of your router, it may even have a scan feature to look for unused or little used channels in your area.

I've been having problems with it tonight aswell. Taking ages to connect to PSN then randomly kicking me out, MW2 taking ages to connect to the server for the ranks + upgrades etc. Signal strength for the PS3 had dropped aswell to the router, Even thought nothings moved and the laptops still pick it up fine.
Out of interest, Don't suppose your using one of the older chubby Ps3's aswell?.

My 60gb has just completely broken, i'm thinking it may be the hard-drive.
My friend's has just gone as well. You can get the internals of the drive rather than replacing the drive, starts from about 35 quid. The part codes are:
With carriage deck: KEM400AAA
Without carriage deck: KES400AAA
Having said that there are a couple of different ones but searching these part codes will get you to a listing with a chart to confirm which you do need. It will more than likely be these ones though.
Mine was working perfectly fine today so hopefully it was a one off. Stressed me out a lot last night!
